Reflectance and Transmittance
The human eyes can see colors or textures, identify shapes and patterns, and sense object distance through reflected light.
A spectrometer can reflect light from a surface as a function of wavelength. Like the eyes, spectral reflectance can collect much of the same information, but it does much more quantitatively and objectively.
Reflectance measurements can detect the color and the texture from a surface, check differences between objects or texture for sorting or quality control.
Information of mateiral is derived by measuring the light absorbed rather than light reflected.
Nondestructive: It can be repeated endlessly without altering the sample
Quantitative: More accurate than the human eye for comparing objects or surfaces.
Measurement Applications:
Research & Education
Life Sciences
Food Safety
Raw Materials ID
Semiconductor & Thin Film
Forensic analysis
QA/QC
